The Hunters Hill Rugby Union Football Club (HHRUFC) is the one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in the Sydney Suburban Rugby Competition.
Commonly known around Sydney as the 'Hillies', the club was established in 1892. The club playing in the first division strata of the Sydney Suburban Rugby Competition has five open playing sides, a Colts (under 21) side and Junior teams U7 - U11. The Club also has a 'Golden Oldies' side.
The Club lives up to its motto Facta Non Verba (Deeds Not Words) and has won the ultimate Suburban Competition trophy, the Kentwell Cup as the first Division premiers numerous times. This also includes twice in recent times in 1995 and 1997. The club was also 1st grade grand finalists in 2000 and 2001 (minor premiers), and semi finalists in 1998.
The Colts side has recently won the competition in 2000 and were semifinalists in 2001.
Following on the strong performance of Colts were our U19s with a win in 2005 co-inciding with 4th grade winning the Nicholson Cup.
The Hillies have a reputation as a competitive, innovative and social club with a long and proud history of participating and winning in various levels of Suburban Rugby.
Records of the early history of the Hunters Hill Rugby Union Football Club are rather scanty largely due to the fire which destroyed most of the records of the Rugby Union in 1973. However, old Hunters Hill Council records show that in 1892 the Hunters Hill Rugby Union Football Club was formed, that in 1895 the Club colours were dark and light blue, that they won only five out of nine matches in 1896 and names of the early official are quoted. The Club played in the now traditional black and white bars from 1907 and these are world registered.
